Karmic Retribution

18 01 2008

I’m not a bit surprised that authorities are now confirming that the tiger that escaped and killed a 17 year old at the San Francisco Zoo was taunted by the men it attacked. They were drunk and high when all of this occured, which also isn’t a surprise. I guess I don’t have a lot of sympathy for people who are this stupid and cruel, and I think it’s a shame that the tiger had to be killed. I don’t second-guess the police for shooting her, of course. They had to in this situation.

I hope those young men are deeply ashamed of themselves and haunted by the death of their friend the rest of their lives. How chickenshit do you have to be to taunt an animal in a cage? Did it make them feel powerful? I loathe bullies, and I admit I like seeing the tables turned for once. I only wish that all victims of such scum had the ability to defend themselves they way a tiger can. I have to wonder what other people and animals had been victimized by these guys prior to the tiger attack. Perhaps this was a bit of karmic retribution at work.

Yeah, I hope the two survivors have nightmares the rest of their lives. Serves them right for picking on something they perceived as defenseless. I just can’t find any sympathy for them in this situation. If only more people had to pay the price for their actions, maybe there wouldn’t be so many cruel and violent people in the world. Natural selection in action. Gotta love it. I’d say this one deserves a Darwin Award for sure.

Hi Amy

Nice to bump into you outside of backspace environs!

I agree with your comments about karmic retribution, but let’s hope that the fact that the creature was in an insecure enclosure doesn’t get overlooked. What if it had been small children taunting the poor creature?

Bullies though these drunks may have been, the real culprit responsible for unnecessary loss of both human and animal life is the zoo, nobody else.
